Lauryn Savela '20 Recruiting Profile

I started Track and Field at age 11, and at that time it was just another sport among the multitude of community activities I participated in. After only one season at Royal City Track and Field Club, I began to realize the passion I developed for the sport. With the support of my new found track community and outstanding coaches, I narrowed my training to Javelin and began to see the opportunities that the sport of track and field offered. Within the last three seasons, I have competed in 3 Youth National Championships, finishing top eight at two. I bring hard work and dedication to each practice I attend, whether it be throwing, weight lifting or cross-sport training in Volleyball and Gymnastics. That same dedication is shown in my school work. I completed grades 9 and 10 with all honors classes and looking forward to grade 11 I am very optimistic that my proven work ethic will bring me the results I need to be successful. Looking into the upcoming track season I am always reaching for a new PR and have my sights set on a medal at the 2019 Canadian Youth National Competition.
