In my life my dad has influenced me the most, he works so hard to provide for my family and my grandfather as he undergoes his own personal struggles. I became interested in track and field and my junior year. After being a competitive basketball player I found I didn’t love the sport in the way I love throwing so I made the switch and after five months I still couldn’t dream of not competing in University. Through track and field I have found that making a change can be scary but rewarding and not be afraid to push yourself. In college I want to earn a bachelors degree in business and minor in biology as well as grow as an athlete so I can compete in the Olympics.
My relationship with basketball may have ended but playing at IMG Academy and at such a high-level taught me about commitment and teamwork and I have learned that sacrificing something can lead to great things. Giving up basketball allowed me (within a month and without training) to compete at provincials and now, training with two amazing coaches I can see myself hitting new PRs very soon. As a dedicated athlete, my leadership and commitment would only be an asset to your team.
