Hailey Ray '19 Recruiting Profile

Choosing to join track my freshman year in high school was truly the best decision I have ever made.  Ever since that decision, I have been running in anything and everything from the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, SMR, 200m, 400m, 100 hurdles, and 300 hurdles (placing in my school's all time top 10 list in every event).

I had been a competitive soccer player for the past 11 years up until the start of this year, and have now committed to pursuing my love of track full time.  Track has shaped me into being a better person and to be who I am today.  Track has taught me to thrive under intense pressure/competition, better myself and teammates, be a leader, and overall, trust in my teammates/coaches and to not doubt myself.

Although I have only been competing in track for the past 2 and 1/2 years, I have already been named team captain, MVP Sprinter/hurdler, MVP of the team, as well as breaking the school and Orange County record in the 4x400m relay, which placed 2nd at the California State Meet (2017).  I have made it to CIF SS Division 1 finals in both the 300 and 100 hurdles as a sophomore, placing 4th in both (2017).

Being a collegiate athlete has always been a dream of mine, ever since I can remember.  My ability to balance sports and high level academic classes in school makes me the perfect candidate for collegiate athletics.  Ask my coaches and teammates, and they will tell you about my positive attitude, dedication and love of the sport, hard work ethic, and willingness to do whatever may be thrown at me.  I am so excited to see what my next chapter in life of being a collegiate athlete will bring.
