My name is Madilyn Mayo and I am currently a Senior now at Soddy Daisy HIgh School in Soddy Daisy Tennesse. I moved to Tennessee to finish my senior year from Grossmont High School in El Cajon, CA. As a Freshman I tried out for track with no prior experience in any track and field events. I started track in March 2018 having a late start due to playing Varsity soccer that made it to the semi-finals. I ran a variety of events including the 100m, 4x100, 200m, 400, 4x400, 100m and 300m hurdles. As the season progressed my main event was the 300m hurdles. In the span of two months I decreased my time from 50.87 to 44.41. With much determination I ended my Freshman year 4th in CIF (San Diego County) in the 300m hurdles. My time was the 11th best in the nation for Freshman.
As for the other events I won league in the 400m, 4x400, 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles. I was humbled to win Grossmont High School and Grossmont Valley Female Runner of the Year.
Ending my last season strong, I hope to improve my strength and abilities in my track career for the seasons to come. I am excited about the possibilities of what the future holds now that I have had some experience and know the expectations that will be placed on me by myself and the coaches. I am striving to win CIF in the hurdles this year. I also plan on decreasing my times across the board.
As for college I want to pursue my love and commitment for track while still getting a good education at a school that is comfortable for me all around.
Thank your for your time,
Maddie Mayo
