Personal Statement

Here is the link to the Youtube Channel where I keep videos of my workouts and competition jumps: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDaXizWdx-dKEQxo81l-8Pg/videos?view_as=subscriber

My name is Jolie Beegle and I live with my twin sister, mom, and dad, in Arcadia, CA. For as long as I can remember, athletics and schoolwork have been two of the most important parts of my life. It’s fair to say that being a “student-athlete” helps define me. I began riding horses and competing in equestrian events when I was four years old, and when I was six years old I began competitive gymnastics. I still compete in equestrian jumping events today, and I “retired” from gymnastics as an all-around World Champion in USAIGC. Gymnastics was not offered at my high school, so I transitioned to track and field where I discovered that pole vaulting and jumping were natural for me since they require many of the same skills that I learned in gymnastics. Admittedly, everything still feels new for me in track and field and I have a great deal to learn. I started triple jumping and pole vaulting about two years ago and I tried the long jump for the first time one year ago. Despite my late start, I feel that I’m learning and improving quickly and I’m determined to be an elite level field athlete.

While the term “student-athlete” begins to describe me, it doesn’t say everything about me. I’m also a very faithful person and I love to surround myself with family, friends, and animals. One of the things I love about track and field is that it allows me to cheer at the top of my lungs for my teammates and share in both their victories and challenges. Ever since I was a young girl, I have loved animals of all kinds. Recently, I rescued a retired racehorse and I am re-training him so that he may enjoy a second career as a jumper. I hope to study animals in college and work with them for the rest of my life.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better. I cannot wait to continue my journey as a student-athlete at college and I’m unbelievably excited to meet new coaches, friends, and teammates. I hope I have conveyed that I am an eager, optimistic, energetic, and passionate student-athlete who loves to bring out not only the best in myself but also the best in everyone and everything around me!
