Building strong relationships is important to me because it creates a sense of trust and helps friendships flourish. I have been instrumental in investing my time on community challenges and engaged in an inquiry approach to reflect on systems in order to identify possible solutions. I have been able to make suggestions from a student's lens and provide feedback that have impacted the surrounding schools where I live.
I strive to take on a servant leadership role that helps those around me to be better and that puts systems in place where everyone benefits.
I have learned that in life you must trust the process. I know everything in life isn’t going to go my way, but I must persevere through challenges because adversity builds strong character which will build me into the strong young woman I am becoming. My goal this semester is to make honor roll with earning a 3.5 GPA or higher.
My leadership has been recognized both on and off the track. Last summer, I was selected to attend The African American Leaders of Tomorrow three day conference sponsored by the California Legislative Black Caucus. It was an amazing experience to be around like minded students and instrumental members of congress serving to build the youth of tomorrow. This is my first semester at Christian Brothers High School and I have been quickly identified as a leader and was selected to be on the Senior Retreat Leadership Team serving our entire student body. I have always been taught to work hard, stay committed, and that knowledge is power and that it will provide me with many opportunities in life. Knowing this, attending a school that supports and takes care of its students and helps them to achieve their full potential will allow me to become the best version of myself.
I believe it's important to be a part of a diverse community because the world is a melting pot of people that come from different walks of life. Being around those with diverse backgrounds allows one to not only grow as an individual, but to embrace and appreciate those from unique backgrounds. As an African American young woman, I thrive in diverse backgrounds, it allows me to be able to be myself without judgment or prejudice.
I look forward to continuing my track career in college. I know that given the opportunity, I can make an immediate impact on any team. I hope to attend a college that continues to grow me as a whole individual. My ultimate goal is to earn a college degree and be able to give back to society.
