Hi my name is Jimmi. I firt fell in love with track and field when I was in the 7th grade I had no clue what I was getting my self into when I told my coach put me in shotput and discus. I had figured that I'd be throwing a ball that weighed like one pound and like a baseball. I was shocked when my throwing coach said I'd throw an eight pound steel ball and that it wasn't as easy as throwing a baseball. I got to my first competition and I had taken 2nd place for being my first time ever doing it I automatically fell in love with the shotput. My 8th grade year came around and we lost our throwing coach and I was the only experienced thrower so I threw my neck out on the line and taught 3 girls how to throw a shot put and a discus. In my freshman year of high school, one of my role models in the Senior class passed away. I saw her as a sister, she and I were on the same 16 and under softball team one time she lost her pants and she had to wear somebody else's pants that were to tight and we had a tournament the next day so I let her wear my extra pair which I never got back. I played Volleyball with her even though I was on C team and she was in Varsity with her and me as a middle blocker jumped into the air and blocked her spike at full force the coaches looked at me with awe and then the head coach asked if my hands were ok and I replied yeah just a bit numb. I also played on the basketball team with her I was Jv and she was Varsity. Then she passed away in a car accident just before track season started and she had been talking about being on the team and everything. I thought that it was going to be a hard track season but I got easier as I made friends, memories and what I do best throw. When my coach said that I lettered and made the Varsity team I broke down because I didn't think I was good enough at the sport. I also received the academic award Honor roll, and participated in other extracurricular activities such as FFA, 4H, True Blue (community service) and square dancing. My sophomore year of high school, I played volleyball still was on C team, decided I'd shake things up and manage the wrestling team, then track came along I was excited and ready for the season to come. My coaches decided that they wanted captains of the team one boy and one girl so they had all of us write two names down and made us wait until the next day to find out who they where. When the head coach said Jimmi Boyd I looked at her like are you talking to me and she told me to get in the center to lead and told the other team captain to get in the center with me. I didn't think I deserved to be captian of such a great team. I thought it was kind of awesome to be the female team captain I only had to keep track of 2 other girls and one female manager it was fun and I fit that role perfectly. At the end of the school year I was awarded principals Honor roll, Honor roll, Academic Excellence, and National Honor Society. I also participated in FFA, 4H, True Blue, Student Council and Travellers club.
