Mikayla Cheney '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Mikayla Cheney I am a 2023 graduate from Colorado, I'm a very outgoing, competitive asset to my school and community. My freshman year I played four sports, those included volleyball, basketball, soccer, and running track. Unfortunately due to COVID I only got to participate in volleyball, basketball, and the beginning of track and soccer. I started varsity basketball my freshman year but due to an injury I  was out for a portion of the season. My sophomore year was my first year being a five sport athlete, adding cross country into the mix. I was a varsity athlete 4 out of the 5 sports I played, I attended state track for the first time my sophomore year. I ran the 4x800, my split was a 2:13, I ran the 800 in 2:15 which won me a state title. I ran a 5:04 in the mile which got me second place and I was the second leg on the state winning 4x400 team. Not only am  I dedicated to athletics but my academics are extremely important to me as well.  As an eighth grader I took math and science classes at the high school allowing me to start taking college math courses as a sophomore. I'm enrolled in my schools Advance Placement program and am hoping to continue that into my senior year.  I am also a part of my grade's student council and the National Honors Society. I think that I would be a great candidate for your team, I'm a hard-worker and wish for my teams success as much as my own. From being a five sport athlete I have learned dedication and I want to show that to you in your own team. I'm ready to put in the time and effort!
