Phoebe Young '21 Recruiting Profile

I started doing track in middle school. I have always loved being pushed in every event. In high school, my older brother, who pole vaults, and my track coach introduced me to pole vault. I fell in love with it and I’ve been working towards getting better ever since. I went to state both my freshman and sophomore years, and I was state runner-up my sophomore year. I also have our school record. I am and have been involved in other sports my whole life. I have played volleyball since 6th grade. I grew up around the sport since my mom coached high school volleyball for a long time.  When I was younger I did gymnastics, and up until a few years ago, I did dance, both of which lead me to love individual sports like pole vault. I love both indoor and outdoor climbing and I even established a climb in a national park. I love everything outdoors and physically challenging. However, track, specifically pole vault, is my passion and I love improving myself and setting personal records.
