Hi, my name is Hailey Simons, and I'm in the class of 2025. I ran cross-country in elementary school for two years, played soccer in middle school, and returned to running during my freshman year of high school. I also started competing in Track & Field events during my freshman year and discovered my passion for sprints and middle-distance races. During my freshman year, I advanced to Regionals in the 800m, 4x400m relay, and States in the 4x800m relay. As a sophomore, I achieved a PR of 1:03.45 at Districts in the 400m and advanced to Regionals. I also advanced to Regionals in the 4x400m and 4x800m relays. My goals this season are to make it to States in the 400m and achieve a PR of under 60 seconds. My achievements over the last two years have led me to receive the HEAT Outstanding Athlete award, be named a team captain, and be presented with the opportunity to assist in coaching younger runners in the HEAT running program.
My main goal for college is to run track and continue to improve my time while maintaining a high GPA. I currently have a 4.0 GPA while taking regular high school and dual enrollment classes. Even though I am undecided about my major in college, I have narrowed it down to a couple areas of interest. Because I enjoy working with younger runners, I am considering Elementary Education and Exercise Science. I plan on working over the summer at a local church's extended care program to explore my interest in this area. Recently, I took a dual enrollment class in Psychology and plan on researching that as an area of interest. While attending college, I also plan to continue community service as well. I currently put together and deliver meals at a local Meals on Wheels program, assist at my church with VBS, attend youth group, and help with various service projects there.
