I started running when I was in middle school after seeing my sister enjoy running track and cross country. Prior to joining the track team, I played travel soccer on the highest teams at my club, which I continued to play for while also running track up until my freshman year when I decided to put all my focus on track and cross country. Over the years I have dealt with many injuries (Patellar Tendonitis, ankle sprains, shin splits etc..), which I feel have made me more resilient and a harder worker. My biggest struggle was throughout my Sophomore year when I found out I was severely iron deficient. It took me 10+ months to get my iron/ferratin levels to a “normal” standard, as I struggled with it through my sophomore and beginning of my junior year. Thus, being said I feel as if I have yet to reach my potential in my athletics.
When looking for a school athletics are not my only priority as academics have always been important to me. I enjoy challenging myself and stepping out of my comfort zone. I have also found that I can axel in different learning environments as my sophomore year I did fully online school. I have taken a mix of honors and AP throughout high school, and plan to take academically rigorous classes in college as well.
When looking to the next stage of my running career I look to find a team atmosphere, with solid coaching. Somewhere I can be challenged in the classroom and athletically. I feel I would be successful in college as I always have a desire to learn new things, challenge myself, and always give my full effort in anything I do.
