Track and field is not as easy as every other sport. Not that other sports are super easy, for me doing multiple events is what makes it the most challenging. You have to have passion. You have to constantly remind yourself that you don't run for other people but instead you run against the clock. Then in the event of shot put and discus you have to use your muscles and mentally and physically be prepared for that and the pressure that comes with it. You're nervous because you know there have been people throwing way longer than you. My second year doing it prepared me more but it was also a lot harder than last year because I have to put in more work than ever and be focused. I practiced so much until I couldn't any more. I just feel like this sport has been the most rewarding and challenging. I grew to love it very much.
These experiences shaped me into the athlete I am today. If it wasn’t for my coach pushing me to lengths that I never knew I had I wouldn’t push myself to be a state qualifier for 2 years in a row. Not only did it give me more confidence in myself and my track career but it also encouraged me to try everything. I participated in flag football, basketball, volleyball, and track. All while being a student as well. This pushed me to show my full potential in all places.
