My freshman season was full of many triumphs, as I entered high school already at the top of my team. However, I was seriously injured throughout the entirety my sophomore season, and initially felt discouraged. Despite this major setback, I kept up the strong work ethic that I had always valued in past seasons, and I was able to compete at the IHSA State Championships in cross country for the second year in a row. This opportunity to learn and grow not only helped me realize that I could break my own mental barriers, but that with perseverance and proper treatment, my upcoming Junior season would be all the more successful.
Whether academically or athletically, I've always clung to the rewarding feeling of crushing my personal records and constantly improving myself. With this motive constantly pushing me, I feel that I will be able to put my best foot forward in any aspect of the program in which I choose to attend.
