Hello!
I started running track in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. At first, I just ran because of my friends and because it gave me something to do after school. It turned out that I was really good at the sport and that I really love running. I was the fastest girl, at McKinley Elementary and Junior High School. It has always been one of those sports that I know deep down in my heart that “this was made for me to do”.
In my freshman year of high school, I was about to join track when Covid19 hit. That was a crazy year for everyone! I didn’t get to join track until my sophomore year of high school when my family moved to Oak Lawn. I presently attend Oak Lawn Community High School in Oak Lawn IL. I did make the junior varsity volleyball team in my sophomore year. I was excited to be on the team but didn’t get much playing time. Even though I didn’t get to play as much, I did encourage my teammates, and helped out as much as I could. Later on that year, I decided that I was going to join track and field. Which I am so happy that I did! At first, it was very hard for me to learn a lot of new techniques, but the girls and my coaches made it easy for me to learn. My coach (Mr. Brian Fiene) said that I have good speed, I just needed to work on my formation and that if I really wanted to get my times down, I will have to put in a lot of practice, and motivation. I knew joining high school track would be a lot different from junior high school and I was okay with that but what I didn’t know was it was a lot of work. I have always been very competitive when it comes to sports.
