The highlight of my high school career so far was, as a freshman, being selected to travel with my track team to the state meet and getting third place. Even though I did not run, the experience and the atmosphere of the meet inspired me to improve so that one day I’d be able to come back and run at the state meet.
Since then I have been working hard to reach my goals. There have been some obstacles in my way, with sickness and injury, which I have overcome with the help of my family. My family has greatly influenced my running career because they encourage me to reach my goals, and provide me with the materials and support I need to succeed.
I joined cross-country and track in eighth grade for fun and to be with my friends. By the end of the year I was in the top 7, which motivated me to continue running in high school. When joining the high school cross-country team my goal was to stay fit and try not to finish in the back. My goals soon changed when I eventually moved up to running on the varsity team. Through running cross-country and track, I have learned that success isn’t possible without the support of your team. You can’t reach your goals without someone to push you, support you, and celebrate achievements with you, and I would love to be apart of your team!
