Hello! First off, thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Mira Handley and I’m currently a senior attending Highland High School. I am quite interested in furthering my athletic career at the collegiate level. I initially sparked a love for running back in 3rd grade by participating in a program called Girls on the Run, which promotes female empowerment by teaching young girls valuable skills through running and fun lessons. Thankfully, I am still active in this program today by volunteering at their local 5k race events. I became far more serious with running competitively throughout middle school; up until then it had purely been for fun. Joining cross country and track my freshman year ultimately changed my life for the better: I came out of my shell (which left me more outgoing and confident), made lifelong friendships, enhanced my leadership capabilities, etc. I am proud to represent my team, build our program, and carry on the legacy of alumni. When searching for a college program, it is of utmost importance for me to understand the team’s culture before committing. My dream is to run for a college whose team resembles the one I’m currently on. We are definitely a cheerful and motivated bunch.
