My name is Maria Blaesing and I have been participating in Competitive sports since I was eleven years old. I struggled when I first started competing. I have always been one of the smaller girls on the team, because of this I have had to push myself twice as hard to be on an even playing field with my competitors. The amount of hard work and time that I have put into sports has taught me discipline in all aspects of my life. The confidence that sports brought me has not only improved my times on the field, but also helped me become a better student, violinist, and person. I am consistently striving to improve myself not just on the track, but in the classroom. While others may avoid challenges I push myself to improve and I am not content staying in my comfort zone. Participating in sports has taught me the importance in setting goals on and off the track. My goals in the classroom are to consistently improve and challenge myself in order to fully develop my potential. On the track my goals are to improve my times and push beyond my limits. My primary goal is to challenge myself academically and as an athlete so that I am able to suit any college teams needs. My strongest characteristics are the passion and determination that help me face any challenge with confidence. I am a very disciplined and determined individual and I feel that I would be a great asset to any team.
