Personal Statement
My name is Dominique Wood and I’m a jumper at the Christ Church Foundation School, Bridgetown Barbados. I participated in track and field from a very youthful age and made significant progress as an athlete over the course of my athletic career becoming both physically and mentally strong due to my exposure and adversities. I am very passionate about my sport and this has allowed me to be a named asset at my school (from the year 2013 when I entered until now) and to dominate in my events across the island.
In the year 2018 I was able to qualify to represent my country in the Long and Triple jump at the CARIFTA games in Bahamas where I made my current personal best of 11.76m in the triple jump and 5.67m at the National Trials in Barbados.
I believe I can and will be a great addition to your college/university team, not only because of my athletic strengths, but also the academic aspect. I have received awards from my school for my grades and my current GPA is 2.75/4.0 but I hope to graduate with a GPA above 3.0. I aspire to double major in both business and environmental science.
My current goals for the 2020 season are 6.00m and 12.30m and my motto “train like second place” would definitely allow for me to achieve these goals. I will keep each college/university up to date with my statistics. 👍🏽
