Personal Statement

I am a hard working and driven student and athlete. I maintain a 3.5 GPA while balancing my training and working 20 hours a week.

In my hometown we do not have any track clubs, so I had limited training experience this past season. I competed in the pentathlon at high school provincials and was only able to practice the field events 2-3 times because of limited facilities. However, I was able to break the provincial record with a first place finish. My goals this upcoming season are to break my record and qualify for U20 nationals and the Western Canada Summer Games.

At the beginning of the school year I started training with the Winnipeg Optimists Athletics Club, which is two hours from home. I drive out 2-3 times per week to train with club and university athletes and follow the program back at home when I cannot make it to practice. I am confident with the work I am putting in and the new training I have access to, that I will see significant growth in my results this season. I will bring my strong and devoted work ethic to your college team.

I want to attend a college where I can challenge myself athletically and academically. I am open to all options and I am looking forwards to seeing where I can go in college track and field.
