Running both cross country and winter track have showed me how truly important it is to have a strong body but also a strong mind. In not only a race, but during practices as well, I have learned that the best way to improve in cross country and track is to have a positive mindset. I constantly try to push myself and my teammates by bringing a positive attitude to every practice and especially to the meets. While running is an individual sport, where I am able to challenge myself every day, it is also a team sport that requires all athletes to try hard. Being on a team is very important to me, which is why as both a junior and senior year captain of my cross country team and a senior year captain of my track team, I make sure that everyone feels strong, motivated, and is consistently working hard.
I am a good candidate for a college level cross country and track team because I am reliable, kind, and hard working. The mentality that it takes to be a runner is something that makes the sport so special to me. I am constantly trying to do better and push myself, whether a coach is watching or not. Being a hard worker is a trait that I carry both on the track and in the classroom. I maintain high grades and a strong GPA because having strong grades has always been important to me. Overall, running cross country and track is a capability that I am the most grateful for and I hope to carry a positive attitude and high energy onto a college team.
