My Mission Statement

Jesse Owens once said, “We all have dreams.  But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.”  That has been the story of my life.  It is a creed that has been passed down from my ancestors and embedded in the minds of my siblings and I.  This year, has been a year of growth and reflection for me.  I have a strong work ethic and understand what it takes to attain the level of success that I aspire to.  That determination is the motivation that I need to be successful in college, as well as track and field. I envision my college years being fulfilling educationally, personally, and athletically. My goal is to explore a major in business that will position me to share my talents and creativity globally. On the track, I plan to be a dynamic sprinter, in addition to being a positive influence and presence on the team. Learning is endless for me, so I am willing to stretch myself above and beyond my current realm of knowledge in the sport.  As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college/track career, I will strive to not only be an asset to the team, but also its culture.  I was taught that nothing exists outside of relationships.  So, it is critically important that I establish a strong bond with my coach as well as my teammates.  For the next four years, this will be my family.  In addition, I hope to carry those relationships beyond this experience.   I aspire to be a part of a family that will not only serve as a foundation of support for me during this experience, but I also hope to reciprocate that same love and support. I will conduct myself with honor and respect at all times on and off the track, knowing that how I carry myself will be a reflection on my team, my coaches as well as the school I attend.  I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life; more importantly to the chapters I will write as an athlete and student.
