My name is Sadie McCulloh. I am from Creighton Missouri and I am a Junior(2024) at Sherwood High school. I play Volleyball, Basketball, and I run Track and Field. My position in volleyball is middle hitter and Defensive specialist. In basketball I play all around the court, there isn't a position I don't play. In track I am a two time state qualifier in the 100m hurdles, qualifier in the 300h and qualifier in long jump. My 100m hurdle PR is 15.41, 300m hurdles 47.26, long jump 5.07 meters, 100m 13.12, 200m 27.68, 400m 1:07, and 800m 2:37. I am all-state in 300h (3rd place) and all-state in 100m hurdles.
I face defeat in every sport I do, from loosing the district championship game to loosing my top three all-state spot in the 100m Hurdles. During the prelims of the 100m hurdles state championship I was ranked 3rd place with time of 15.73. I ended up running 15.41 and I took first place in prelims. I than qualified in the 300m hurdles I ran 48.10 and placed 6th place. I was feeling confident for the next day for finals. During finals, I faced my biggest challenge mentally and physically. I felt that I never wanted to show my face again because of my defeat. During the 100m hurdle finals, I was in a solid 3rd place until the last hurdle. I was trying to catch up with the whole race, my mind was going faster than my legs. My brain was telling me to speed up even though I couldn't. On the last hurdle, I messed up my steps and I got caught in the last hurdle. I ended up tripping and running a 20.26. I never wanted to show my face again. But I knew I had too for the last race of the season. I would say this year, I've faced more challenges than I ever had too in my life. I ended my season on a high note running a 47.26 placing 3rd place all-state in the 300m hurdles. My teammates highly look up too me. My freshman year I earned the Golden Baton award. My Sophomore year I earned MVP and white Jersey Award. My coaches look up to me as well.
Although I'm not sure what I want to do in college, I know I want to Major in Biomedical Engineering. I would also like to play collegiate sports. My primary sport is Track and Field and my secondary sport is Volleyball. I think I would be the most ideal athlete for any college because I never give up when times are tough, I don't strive to be content, and I am always looking for ways to improve for my teammates and for myself. I give a 110 percent effort to everything I do whether it is in the classroom, on the track, or on the court. Thank you for your time and consideration.
