College for me has always been in my plans but being able to compete in track and field is a new consideration that I am looking forward to.
Throughout the years, I have striven to improve at whatever I attempt. Whether that is in my track events or in color guard or just in my every day activities, I want to be better. I have learned that questions are good to ask even if it doesn't seem important. If I want to improve, I have to keep practicing.
I have taken more initiative to practice on my own to continue bettering my skills as well as seeking the help of other experts. In the winter of 2018-2019 I began private coaching with former University of Missouri track Co-Captain Katie (Vanarsdale) Hoppenstedt. In my first meet of the 2019 season I saw my PR for discus improve by almost 10 feet, with all my discus throws beating my PR from the previous season. Working with other team mates is important to me because it benefits both of us and our team. I appreciate when my coaches are able to give me specific feedback and help me fix errors I might make. Ultimately my goal is to improve and I will work towards meeting this goal.
