I have competed in cross country and track and field since the beginning of freshman year. However, I have loved running ever since I was little. I loved to run and race with my family and I still do. I like to try new things, so track has brought some new opportunities like trying triple jump and some sprints. Last year in cross country, I had some great races but also some tough races. Though tough, these races showed me how to push through the pain and fight. I was able to find a drive in myself that I never would have found otherwise. Although a tough end to some of our seasons, we made it as a team to sectionals and learned how to work as a team and fight together.
Besides my great passion for running, I like to do other outdoor activities like hiking and biking. I am always open for a new adventure. Through my high school experience, so far, I have loved the team atmosphere of cross country and track. My team and I have created such close friendships. Competing with this team has really taught me how to be a leader and how to stay positive. Not only have I learned to be a leader on the team, but I participate in the school's Leadership Viking Academy which has helped me grow stronger as a leader even outside of sports.
