Hello Coaches,
Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Milani Bethel currently in my senior year (class of ’21) residing in Union City, New Jersey. My track and field journey started when I was in the 4th grade. Ever since I joined my middle school track team my life has been forever changed from that point. Running has allowed me to push myself to become a stronger athlete and person. Track has taught me to trust the process that a small setback leads to a major comeback with hard work and discipline. I’ve found a home and family in the track community and I hope to be apart of this world forever!
During my high school track and field career, I’ve been blessed to be a 3 season varsity athlete competing in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field. I’ve been able to show my athletic range throughout these seasons. From running a 5k in 20:03 for cross country to competing in the 55m (7.67), 200m (27.11), 400 (58.67) and 800m (2:23.29). Currently, however my personal goals is to cut times by 4-7 seconds in each of the 200m, 400m and 800m events. This range has helped me lead my HS team to three consecutive Non-Public B State Relays titles. With these team-based accomplishments, I’ve also made 2nd team All-State Non-Public B and 1st team All-County for the 400m during the 2019 indoor and outdoor seasons. My high school experience has brought not only great victories but many tough losses. These experiences have only made me hungrier to be better and push past my limitations. The sport of track has taught me that great sportsmanship, teamwork, positive drive and attitude are key to bringing out my full potential.
My goals for the future are to continue my track career and compete on the collegiate level. I want to continue to show my athletic range from sprints to middle distance events while providing my future team with the best chance to succeed and win championships for years to come. I’m willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears to prove myself that I belong among the best and most conditioned athletes. In turn this will allow me to reach my dreams and goals of becoming a future track Olympian one day.
