My name is Noelle O'Regan. I am currently a junior at Old Bridge High School. I have been on the varsity track and field team since the winter season of my freshman year. My main event is the 400m. I have run the open 400m, the 4x400, the DMR, and the SMR. My indoor pr is 1:02.77, and my outdoor pr 1:01.41. However, I have split faster in relays. When I first started high school, I never thought I would have run track, it wasn't even a thought in my mind. I had done field hockey in the fall and was planning on doing swim and lacrosse. During field hockey, my coach came up to me and said that I should go out for track considering I always did well during our sprinting drills. She even mentioned that I would do well at the 400m. I remember laughing when she told me this, I thought she was crazy. It turns out, she was right. In my freshman year, I competed at the Penn Relays and medaled, I also won the 400m dash at the freshman championships in my conference. Although it was a great year for me and my team, I do not believe it will be the one to stick with me for the rest of my life. I think this years winter season will always be on my mind. We did not have a set 4x400 team. Each meet it would be different people, some of which were thrown into the race last minute. We never knew what would happen when we stepped onto the track, but it taught me an important lesson. Even though the odds were always against us, it taught me to always try my best, not only for the team but also for myself.
