I have considered myself an athlete for most of my life. I started playing soccer when I was three, and joined a competitive rock-climbing team when I was nine. I love training, competing, and constantly challenging myself to improve. I also love the teamwork and camaraderie that comes with being part of a team.
I started running track in my sophomore year as a way to stay in shape for soccer and I immediately fell in love with it. As a track athlete, I am constantly setting individual goals and resetting them when I exceed them. I love the feeling of working hard, pushing myself to my limits and seeing how fast I can go. I also love how track allows me to compete as part of a team, whether I am running in a relay or earning individual points toward my team’s score. I get as much out of helping and supporting my teammates during their events as I do from their advice and support during mine. I am also driven to learn as much as I can from my coaches so I can continue to improve as a runner and a member of the team.
I made Varsity in my first outdoor season and competed in the 1600m and the 800m. I improved my times at each meet and was able to score points that contributed to my team's success at the County, Sectional and Regional finals.
As a student, I work hard in and out of the classroom. I have continued to challenge myself with Honors and AP classes. I’m involved in the Student Alliance as a peer leader, helping freshman learn to adjust to high school socially and academically. I’ve taken Latin since 9th grade and am a member of the Latin Club. I also participate in Interact to help our community through service and donation projects.
I am excited to compete at a higher level as a member of a new team. I am also looking forward to the challenge of balancing my academic and athletic commitments. My goal is to find a college where I can continue to compete, contribute and improve both on the track and as a member of the college community. I hope to pursue a degree in Education so I can explore some of the different factors that affect a student's ability to learn and engage in school.
I am passionate about track and field, and I am confident that I can be a valuable asset to any college track team. I am excited to see what the future holds.
