My name is Shelby Dauphinee. I am 17 years old and I go to Barker Jr. Sr. High School. Barker is a very small school with only 725 kids in the whole high school. I have loved running ever since I was a little girl so I took up soccer when I was 6 years old. I did that for years until one year my school did not have soccer. So freshman year of high school I did Cross Country. I instantly fell in love with the idea of running for a sport. I now do Cross Country in the fall, Swimming for some cross training in the winter, Track and Field in the spring and 5k road races over the summer while training.
Running makes a bad day a good day and everything I was thinking about before the workout go away. Coming from a small school, the teamwork aspect of built into the teams was a big thing for me. On every team that I'm on I love cheering for my teammates and creating a family-like aspect to the sports team. I have been captain on various different teams for my sportsman-like perspective towards the sports and I am a hard worker and when I have my mind set to something, I go for it. I showed this by starting off the season at a 25:40 in time trials and then ended up dropping almost 3 minutes by the end of the season. I would love to further my running career in college to be a great member of a team, to pursue my love for the sport, and so how hard I work for something I want.
