Nydaya Green’s Personal Statement
In September of 2011 I was enrolled into the Cheektowaga Central School District as a fourth grader. As most children, I’ve always enjoyed participating in gym and other inside and outside activities. In September of 2012 after moving up to the middle school as a fifth grader, I participated in several athletic programs that have been offered to me over the years. These programs include Modified Outdoor Track and Field from grades 7 and 8, Modified Girls Basketball from grades 7 and 8, JV Girls Basketball from grades 9 and 10, Varsity Outdoor Track and Field from grades 9-11, Varsity Indoor Track and Field from grade 11, and Varsity Cheerleading from grade 11. I plan to continue to participate in Varsity Cheerleading as a senior, Varsity Indoor Track and Field, Varsity Outdoor Track and Field and there is a possibility that I may try out for the Varsity Girls Basketball team as a senior.
In my Track and Field career from grade 7 to current, I have challenged myself in a large variety of events. In grade 7, I ran 100m, 200m, 200m hurdles, and 4x100m. I also participated in the field event high jump. Grade 8 was almost identical in the track events, 100m, 200m and 4x100m. Although I still participated in high jump, I attempted shot putt once in the field events. During Outdoor Track and Field in grade 9, I ran the 400m and 200m. I didn’t participate in any field events. Outdoor Track and Field in grade 10, I ran the 200m for a track event and I also did the long jump and triple jump for field events. In grade 11, I decided to do Indoor Track and Field. I ran the 4x200m for the track event. Also continuing on with the long jump and triple jump from the previous outdoor season for the field events. Following the Indoor season, in the outdoor season I ran the 100m for the track event and long jump and triple jump for the field events. I really enjoy track and field, the field event are my favorite. I plan on doing Varsity Indoor Track and Field and Varsity Outdoor Track and Field my senior year. Through my entire basketball career I played the same couple of positions. I played the 2, shooting guard, and the 3, small forward. From modified grades 7 and 8, Jv 9 and 10, and Varsity grade 11 those have been the positions that I have played. Although there is a slim chance that I will play girls varsity basketball in my senior year, these past 5 years have been a fun learning experience. Varsity Cheerleading in 11th grade was fun cheering on my Cheektowaga Central Warrior varsity football team. It was a new experience for me and I learned plenty of new things that I didn’t know prior to cheerleading. I plan to cheer again this upcoming fall for my senior year.
Although track and field has become my passion, I’ve enjoyed all the sports that I have participated in during middle school and high school. I would love nothing more than to be given an opportunity to participate in track and field events at the collegiate level, but would accept all offers to participate in either sport at the next level.
Truly,
Nydaya I Green
