My name is Kate Cen and I am a senior at Tuckahoe High School, class of 2023. I have always had a passion for running, starting soccer in third grade and track in eighth grade. Track and Field has held an important part in my life. It has brought out my own characteristics that I never knew I had: loving the competition and loving to endure. I instantly fell in love with running. There was never a day that I didn't want to go out for a run. I really do enjoy pushing myself to be the best I can be. I enjoy being a part of a team where we can motivate each other to achieve new times everyday. I work hard to perform my best and to inspire my teammates to do the same.
Outside of the track, I am involved in extracurricular activities and thus learning the value of time management. These activities include: orchestra, Habitat for Humanity, tutoring ELL students, dance, varsity soccer, varsity bowling, stock market club, science olympiad team, and National Honor Society. I have always made sure to make a full commitment to all these activities while still maintaining honor roll in each quarter of High School at minimum. I am a hard worker in everything I do, whether it's in the classroom or on the track.
Running between the two white lines has become my stress reliever over the past couple of years. Whether it was stress from tests, or upcoming music/ dance performances, being on the track was where I could wind down . If I’m not seen on the track, I’m on the soccer field running miles as a center midfielder! I am eager to continue my education and athletics wherever I go in life. I hope to continue running for as long as I can in life.
