My name is Caroline Mullady and I am a sophomore at Kings Park High School (NY). I have participated in many sports since I was five years old, including track & field, soccer, basketball, karate and gymnastics. While participating in each of these sports, I always strive to better myself, as well as my team. Playing team sports has taught me the necessity of learning to be able to take constructive criticism not only from coaches, but fellow athletes as well. It has also showcased the importance of being a part of a team and being able to make sacrifices for your fellow teammates. While participating in individual sports, I have learned self-motivation and the independence to be able to carry out tasks without needing to be told again and again. I always want extra opportunities to improve, more meets to compete in and more practices to train. I have been on varsity track since eigth grade and varsity soccer since ninth grade. I believe that these fundamental qualities that I have acquired from playing sports have shaped, not only the athlete that I am, but the student as well. Maintaining a high GPA takes an immense amount of self-motivation to study, independence to complete your work on time, and the ability to be able to ask for help when needed. Sports and academics have always been very crucial aspects of my life and I am always looking to better myself in both areas.
