Hi my name is Beckah Triana, I am now a Senior at Northport High school. I started running as a toddler when I was exposed to the sport by my Mom. In Elementary School I joined the Northport Youth Running Club, Where I got to experience my first competitive races. I enjoyed it so much that all throughout Middle School, I participated in Spring Track and Cross Country. As well as Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring track in Highschool. As I entered High school and joined the Cross Country team, Mileage and workouts got longer and harder. I didn’t realize just how important it was to keep your body healthy leading me to my first injury. My Freshman year I got a stress fracture in my shin. This impacted my life more than I could’ve ever imagined. I had to take many months off from running taking me away from my team and from what brings me joy. Though it was really hard to get over this injury physically and mentally, I was taught perseverance and patience ultimately making me a better runner. I now understand the importance of good health and have not had an injury since. During my Sophomore year I got back into the swing of things and started to improve my times. During my Junior year I have qualified for Divisions and Counties individually, and qualified for States as a team becoming Class A County Champions during my Cross Country season. As well as qualifying for Counties individually my Winter Track + Spring Track Season. I am currently training for my Senior year Cross Country Season and can’t wait to see what I can bring to the table this year.
Thank you for taking the time to read my statement.
