Going to state as a freshman was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had throughout my high school running career. Although the girls cross country team has not made it to state since that year (2014), it has only motivated me to get stronger as an individual and push my teammates to do better as a whole. As a team, no barriers stand in our way as we fight and power through each and every practice or race. Throughout my high school years of running, I have recognized the qualities it takes to be a leader. I show up to practice determined to work hard and be the best role model I can be. I have met the best of friends through cross country and both the girls and boys teams are family to me. To further my leadership, I gave a speech during practice and was chosen by my fellow team members to be the team captain.

Mentor High School has helped shape me into the person I am now both academically and athletically. As a tri-sport athlete I lettered my freshman, sophomore, and junior year in cross country, swim team, and track and I plan to do the same my senior year. It was a rigorous task that I was determined to achieve. I am truly grateful to be a part of the cross country program Mentor has to offer and I plan to continue my academics and running at a college that is best fit for me.
