Hello Coaches?.(yes you reading this :)
If you are reading this that means you want to get to know me a bit more, Mercedez Covey the person
While I am shy when I first meet you, I want you to know I am extremely driven and a highly competitive person. Whether that be my running, basketball, my school work, or friendly competitions with my friends and younger sister.
Simply put I want to be the best in everything I do!.
I also understand the effort and commitment that this takes. Since a young age my family has two motto's and they are: "hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard" and "Covey's dont quit"
I believe these two motto's have done me well to this point.
While I would love the opportunity to play basketball at the collegiate level (I play guard on my rep basketball team), my main focus is on my running, and more importantly my distance running.
To the College or University that offers me an opportunity, I will bring a positive attitude, commitment, loyalty, great work ethic and character in return.
Once I arrive on campus in 2024, my goals will be to compete with my new teammates, and not only push myself, but my teammates as well. My personal goals are to win races, as well as compete for Conference championships, National championships, as well as All American honors. While I understand these are lofty goals and I certainly don't want you to take this as arrogance, I want you to know I set high goals, stretch goals and aim high. While I do feel short term goals are great, I like to plan long term as well and am not afraid to put in the hard work to achieve them.
I hope this tells you a bit more about myself, and I look forward to speaking to you throughout this recruiting journey.
Regards,
Mercedez Covey
