Molly Strain '21 Recruiting Profile

Hi, 

My name is Molly Strain (16 years old) and I am very excited to begin my search for a great school and a great running team!  I live in Omemee Ontario in Canada which is about 1 1/2 hours from Toronto.  

I love to run, and I hope someday to represent my country at a high level. 

Although I am quiet and can be quite shy, I am very determined and competitive when I'm running.  I'm currently the COSSA champion for Cross Country, 3000m and 2000m Steeplechase.  I'm also the ECOSSA winner for 3000m and 2000m Steeplechase.  I have two OFSAA Bronze medals for Steeplechase and 3000m, and a 9th finish in OFSAA Cross Country in 2018.   At  OFSAA 2019, I placed first and hold the record for the Women's 2000m Steeplechase with a time of 6:57.89.  I worked really hard to achieve this result.  I also placed 6th in the 3000m and my Relay Team finished 12th in the 4 x 400m Relay.  At the Canadian Nationals in Abbotsford British Columbia (November 2019), I placed 5th and had a P.B. of 4:38 in the 4km.   Currently in Canada, I am ranked 6th in the Open 2000m Steeplechase. 

I am a very determined and focused person.  I enjoy working with my coaches and challenging myself in all that I do.  I recognize that I can't succeed at every race, but know I learn from every race.  

Aside from running, I also play competitive soccer and cross country ski.  Both of these activities have provided some great cross-training for me, provided great training in terms of teamwork and skill development. 

I want to attend a school that can meet both my academic and athletic needs.  At the present time, I have a 93% average and school is very important to me.  I want to ensure that I am making the right decision for myself and for my future.
