I have been involved in track and field for as long as I can remember. Whether I was watching my older sister from the sidelines, or competing I have always had a love for the sport. I began doing track and field at a very young age. I started out doing a little bit of everything; from throws to jumps and even hurdles. I started doing multis at the age of 12, but the throws events were always my best and favourites.
By my freshman year of high school I decided that I wanted to take throwing more seriously and be dedicated to shot put and discus. I now only throw shot and discus and I am looking forward to starting javelin.
In my freshman year I started to play travel volleyball. In my sophomore year I was the team captain of my high school team. I lead my team to winning the WECSSAA title and moved on to SWOSSAA. From playing volleyball I have become a leader and a great teammate. I know how to win as a team and lose as a team. I believe in having a good relationship with both my teammates and coaches and being able to collaborate with both is very important to me.
As a freshman I went to OFSAA for shot put and placed fourth, and only 7cm from a bronze medal. The following year I also made it to OFSAA and placed sixth in shot put. In the summer of 2017 and 2019 I qualified for Legion Nationals Track and Field where I placed sixth in both shot put and discus.
My goal as an athlete is to become stronger and be a good competitor. As an athlete I remain focused and intense, but I still try to not take myself too seriously because in the end, I compete because of my passion for the sport.
