My name is Regan Ruffner. I have been pole vaulting for 2 years now. I was a gymnast from the age of 3 until I was 15 years old. After I quit gymnastics, I started track and field as well as dancing. I began pole vaulting at the end of my freshman year and have focused on pole vault as my main event since then. I am class of 2021 at Argyle High School and am a part of Texas Express Pole Vault in Lucas, Texas. I pole vault 3 days a week, as well as work on strength training and speed work 5 days a week. I also dance 3 days a week in addition to my track and field workouts. I was fortunate enough to be able to compete in two meets during the 2020 outdoor season, getting a personal record at both. My current pr is 12’3”, which I jumped at the Richland Rigsby Relays in North Richland Hills, Texas. My goal for the 2020 season was to jump 13’1”, so if I have an opportunity to jump in a summer meet, that will be my goal as well. I have been given the opportunity to be able to continue to pole vault and workout during this quarantine, allowing me to improve during this time. My collegiate goal is to pole vault for a school and study either forensic science or criminology, to further become a criminal profiler. As a student athlete, I am good at time management and getting things done on time. I am a very determined person and will do everything it takes in order to reach one of my goals. I work hard in everything I do and will not give up until I achieve a goal. As an athlete, I am usually one of the first people in the gym, and one of the last to leave. I will stay and work until I get whatever I am working on right. I am also willing to make sacrifices in order to become the best and will do whatever it takes to become the best athlete and person that I can be.
