Sports have played a huge role in my life since kindergarten. I ran from little league games to soccer matches until I found a favorite sport: volleyball. I played club volleyball for 7 years and competed on travel and national teams. However, as I got older it became clear that I would never be tall enough to play my desired position, outside hitter, at the collegiate level. I have spent the last two years juggling Varsity Track and Club Volleyball, but this summer I decided to shift my priority to track to pursue my newfound talent and passion for hurdles and jumping, Such a big switch has taught me how to embrace change and transition to a new discipline. I am so excited to push my limits and am prioritizing learning to three-step in the 100 meter hurdles.
My teachers and friends associate me with high standards because I push myself on all fronts. Despite taking all honors classes, being two years advances in mathematics, and doubling up in science, I have maintained a high GPA. I aim to attend a rigorous college with like-minded people and a challenging curriculum. My desire to explore activities beyond the classroom has led me to sing in musicals, serve in National Charity League & Youth Leadership Council, learn wilderness skills at summer camp, tutor my peers in STEM, aid elephants in India, and, of course, play a number of sports.
