Entering the sport of track and field at the age of 13, I was greeted with many obstacles. My 7th and 8th grade year were full of physical set backs but I stayed focused, worked hard and strived to be the best student athlete I could possibly be for myself. All of that seems so minor now because I was fortunate enough to set my school 100-meter record and running my personal best at my first varsity meet. Achieving this as a freshman has been the highlight of my track career.
I feel I grew so much as a student-athlete the summer before my freshman year knowing that high school is my time to show case what I’ve worked so hard to achieve. Being sidelined majority of my 7th and 8th grade season and not being able to help my team win, helped me grow as a person, athlete and motivated me to not only get healthy... but stay healthy so that I can positively contribute to our teams success and reach my sprinting goals.
I’m fortunate to be apart of a great school and great athletic program, which encourages me to be the best student athlete I can be. I’ve learned the value of teamwork; commitment, sacrifice and leadership since I’ve began the sport of track and field. I’m looking for a program that will be a great fit for me academically and athletically. I believe in myself and I know that I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but that my character, work-ethic, commitment and leadership skills can make an immediate impact on your program.
I am confident that I have what it takes to become a leader on your team. I also have a work ethic that I am very proud of and a heart for this sport. There is no obstacle too challenging for me to overcome and I am truly looking forward to what God and this sport have in store for me.
