Currently I am a senior receiving my Bachelor's degree in May 2022. I am focused on selecting the next move for my athletic career in a Graduate school capacity. I will have two years of eligibility left after graduation.
My athletic career as of yet has been anything but ordinary. From running track as a young child, to eleven years of playing outfield, to throwing a long metal spear my thrill for adrenaline, competition, and a team could never be quenched entirely. My introduction to javelin was once again an unusual beginning. The eleven years of being a centerfielder led me to pick up the javelin. A fifth concussion took softball away, but I would have never guessed that javelin would be the sport where I found independence from the world, a place to put my efforts to want to contribute to a team, and the place that allows me to showcase an intensity that I have not been allowed to release before.
A track team is unlike any other team. It is a group of people who are individually competing for a group goal. My job is not only to exhaust all my avenues in order to perform the best for the benefit of the team, but also to encourage my team as we collectively down goals bigger than any individual. As far as it is up to me, my focus stays toward the goal at hand and I throw my javelin as well to my ability as I help support my team in my unique way.
At this point in life, success in any area of life does not just happen by chance or by being in the right place at the right time. Anything acquired is earned and fought for. This statement is true for studies, 6am lifts, inquiries for jobs, coming back from injuries, and making dreams a reality. My intrinsic motivation is sourced by my drive to never be outworked, my desire to see how far my body/mind can go, and to be able to go to bed proudly knowing that I did everything humanly possible to accomplish my goals.
I have no concept of what my limits are. Then again, who really knows what someone can accomplish and why allow someone to put limits on you? What I do know is that I am someone that is addicted to the thrill of pushing myself harder and harder, refuses to be beat, rolls with the punches while I learn from them, and see everyday as a blessing to use this body of mine to achieve goals beyond what others see as possible.
