I am a Track and Cross Country athlete from Leander, TX, and a student in the graduating class of 2020 as a homeschool student taking dual credit courses at Austin Community College. I have been running with Texas Thunder Track Club for seven years. During this time, I have competed in the AAU Junior Olympics with Texas Thunder four years in a row (2015-2018) and I finished 7th in the 3000m at the 2018 AAU Junior Olympics. In 2017, I was the TCSAAL (Texas Charter School Athletic and Academic League) and TAIAO (Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organization) XC champion. In 2018, I was the TCSAAL State champion in 800m, 1600m, and 3200m, leading my team to the school's 1st State Champion title while still attending and running for Founders Classical Academy of Leander. That same year, I was also State Champion in the 3200m and runner-up in the 1500m at the TAIAO State meet. I ran my first 2000m Steeplechase race at the Lovejoy Distance Festival in 2018, and I placed 4th. Additionally, in the 2018 XC season, I was 5th place in the TX State Homeschool meet, and I placed in the top 21 overall in the Nike Open races at the Nike South Regional meet.
As a runner, discipline is an important virtue to have. I have climbed to the level at which I am through this virtue both in athletics and academics. For example, I practice and/or compete six days a week while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in school. At meets, I stay not just for my events, but also for my teammates events, supporting them while they compete, even if I am at the meet longer than otherwise necessary.
I hope to continue my running in college while seeking a degree in astronautical and aeronautical engineering. I have no geographical or historical preferences when looking for a school. While I am open to a wide range of schools, I would prefer a military-based school or one with an ROTC program, so that I might serve my country after graduation.
