At a young age I was told that I would not go far in gymnastics because of my height. I took that as a challenge and competed for ten years and won numerous state championships. When I decided to also try swimming and track in middle school, my height was an advantage and I was able to use my athleticism from years of gymnastics to excel in both sports. I found that track was a natural progression after gymnastics and I really enjoy it. My focus is now on track and field and being able to continue competing in college. My goal in college is to be part of a team that I can contribute to and consider to be life-long friends.
Academically, I have also used my desire to challenge myself by always striving to maintain honor roll while being a competitive athlete. Since being a club gymnast since kindergarten, I have not known what it is like to maintain high grades without being involved in sports. I believe this makes me a perfect candidate for college athletics and studying Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Sports Psychology.
