Becoming a collegiate student-athlete has been a dream of mine since I can remember. Goals of mine as a collegiate student-athlete are both academic and athletic. Some of my athletic goals are to run to the best of my ability at the highest level I can possibly achieve. I want to become better at running with the help of collegiate coaches and compete against the best athletes and teams in the country. For academics, my goal is to do the best I possibly can and focus on my major and focus on my grades. I want to complete all of my school work to the best of my ability.
I would be a good candidate for your team because I have the drive and dedication to get done whatever is put in my way. I also am willing to try new things and new events. I am very versatile when it comes to different events, I have run everything from a 100m to a 5k. I also am very much a people person. I love meeting new people, connecting with new people and making friends and new teammates which would make it easy for me to fit into and work with a new team. I work well when on a team and I communicate well with others and my teammates.
What makes me different from other recruits is I am not afraid to try something new. Most of my running career I was mainly a 400m, 800m, mid-distance type of runner, but just this past season my coach had come up with the idea of me trying the 300m Hurdles. I was excited and ready for a new challenge. I faced this new event head on and ready to take on something new and do it better than anyone thought I would. I ended up qualifying for state my first year ever doing the 300m Hurdles and placing second at my district meet as a Sophmore with basically no hurdle training or technique training because my high school does not have a specific hurdling coach. I spent many hours at home watching youtube videos with my Dad and going out to the track after school and on the weekends trying to figure out how to perfect my hurdling on my own. What also makes me different is my personality. I am very bubbly, brave, athletic, outgoing and accepting of everyone around me. I love to meet new people and make new friends. I love spending time with my friends and going on hikes, runs, swimming, biking and sometimes just sitting around watching a funny movie. I also spend a lot of time with my team. We go out to dinner all the time, we go to movies and we also go camping. Spending time and bonding with my team is one of my favorite things to do. When it comes to academics I work very hard at school. I do every assignment given to me to the best of my ability. Sometimes some things given to me are harder than I am capable of completing at the time but I do my best to push through it, ask for help and make sure I get it done. I also make sure to study hard for test and quizzes and I ask questions to get a deep understanding of what I am learning to make sure I understand it as best as possible.
Overall I am a good candidate for your team because I persevere through tough situations and work hard to complete tasks given to me. I am very outgoing and work well on teams which is good because I will be able to communicate well with my team. I have the dedication and determination to get done not only my academic work but my work on the track as well to the best of my ability.
