I started throwing in 8th grade, however, I've been introduced to throwing at a young age through my cousin. I am currently going on to my third year of throwing. Even having my mind set on throwing at the college level as soon as I released the discus at my first track meet. Competing at the college level could be my last time competing ever, I may never have the chance again. Therefore I want to push myself and not give up until I make it there. One of my other goals is to still be competing after the college level, for as long as I can.
I’m a very ambitious athlete during the season and off, I try my hardest all day every day whether it is in the ring or in the classroom. Off season I’m in the weight room, lifting hard up to four times a week during the school year. Although during the summer I am in the weight room every day. Always trying to get in the ring to practice, even if it means drawing on in the garage floor or when I ask my dad to help me build a portable ring. When I don’t have the chance get a hold of a shot or discus I work on my form throwing a towel. In season I'm in the ring every day and weight room with my teammates. Not only making myself better but helping my team. I sometimes give my teammates pointers on what I have learned in my summer and winter camps I have attended or helping them in the weight room and some with school work.
I’m different than other athletes, due to the fact that when I say I’m going to do something, consider it already done. That must be because of my willingness and pride or it’s because I’m the youngest and most promising member of the varsity team, here at west high school. I worked my way to the top by practicing outside of practice and my camps, and I will show any school that I deserve to be there and throwing with their athlete. I'm dedicated to this sport, it is my life. This past year I made the decision to give up competitive dance to be more focused on school and track. Whereas I can still go back to dance classes to work on strengthening my muscles and also stretching. I don't only push myself in sports but in the classroom as well, with taking as many classes or advanced classes I can. Even trying to some IB classes. I want to make my family, teammates, and coaches proud when it comes to the next step in throwing.
