Hello,
My name is Tia Campanelli. I am a 5'9 Junior at Monroe Catholic High School in Fairbanks, Alaska. I am the starting setter on my high school varsity team. I have played under my Head Coach, Dave Obermeyer, for the past five years. Within those past five years, I have experienced a wide scope of different competitive levels which has molded me into a well rounded athlete. Those experiences include starting positions in middle school, high school, and competive volleyball. Furthermore, I have had the privilege of honing my skills at the various out of state tournaments my club team and I travel to yearly, improving my abilities dramatically. Aside from season work, in the off season I am constantly training wether it be in my home gym, or outside of Alaska at training camps. For three years I had the privilege to train at the California State of Long Beach summer camps in both setting and overall skills. As well as two years at the University of Gonzaga team camps, and the University of Alaska Anchorage setters camp. The most important thing that I have learned from my coaching staff at Monroe Catholic is the importance of being a student athlete; being a "student" always comes first. Because of that valuable lesson, I strive to perform at my very best in both my academic and sport endeavors. I have held a cumulative GPA of 3.4 along with the distinction of making honor role for both my freshman and sophomore year in high school, and plan to continue to grow in my last two years both academically and athletically. I aspire to take my athletic career to the collegiate level while majoring in nursing. Attending a catholic school since kindergarten has taught me the importance of the people around you, and how you should love and care for those around you always. This lesson has not only taught me how to act in my day to day life, but also how to play my part as a teammate. I always strive to lead by example while helping others grow.
