Volleyball is not just a sport but my passion. I aspire to be a role model for people in my community as well as in the state of Alaska. Given the chance to continue my volleyball career into college, I could show the people here that it is possible. That despite coming from a smaller town you can be seen and have the ability to follow your passions. Besides the aspect of coming from a small town I do not have the stereotypical appearance of a volleyball player. I am fairly shorter but that does not stop me from playing and practicing to the best of my ability. I strive to be the person that anybody can look up to and carry the characteristics of a leader. I highly encourage my teammates in both practice and games because volleyball is a team sport. Without the full effort of each individual, we would not function to our potential. I see myself as very coachable and open minded. I am open to corrective criticism from both teammates and coaches. I would not have trouble speaking out and becoming the voice of the team if others do not feel comfortable confiding their ideas or concerns. Just like volleyball I take academics very seriously. I hold myself to high standards and constantly push myself to put forth my best work. I am currently a part of the National Honors Society and hold a 4.0 gpa. Volleyball is my much-needed escape that relieves me from my everyday stressors. Furthering my volleyball career would be a dream come true and I hope I get that chance by becoming a part of your team.
