Sarah Sheldon '23 Recruiting Profile

I want to play volleyball. I feel I cannot get enough of it. After school or team practice, I go to my local gym and play more volleyball on co-ed teams. I try to get more coaching in between team practices because I want to keep improving. I want a college coach and team who will see my potential talent and bring out more of it. I want to be awesome and I want to have fun winning games with my teammates. I am willing to do whatever it takes to better the team. I have proven this by playing the Middle Hitter position because the team needed me there, but I have always wanted to play Defensive Specialist or Libero. It aches me not to play a position I know I would love. I am different from other recruits because I have learned to play volleyball out of sheer willpower. I know I can be an incredible player for the right team and the right coach. I need a coach who believes in me, sees my potential, and who will bring out my true talents. I know I can deliver. In just a year of playing volleyball, I have been able to improve and have been told that I have a super power that nobody else possesses. I can see things on the field and react instinctively like nobody else. I am not afraid of the ball. No matter how fast it's coming at me, I will attack it back. I never quit despite obstacles. I have the same character when it comes to academics. I have proven that when I have a goal, I go above and beyond to achieve it. As a child, some teachers told me that I would fail at school, but I proved them all wrong and became Valedictorian of my high school. I plan to pursue my interests in business, marketing, marine biology, and theater. In college I know I can continue to be excellent at school, but now I need the opportunity to be excellent at volleyball. I just need the chance to prove that I can be unstoppable at volleyball as well. Put me on your team and I can promise that you will not regret your decision!
