I started playing volleyball in seventh grade. At the time it was just for fun, but quickly became something more. At the end of my first season I knew I had to take the sport to the next level. A weeks after the season ended I tried out for the local club and entered the world of competitive volleyball. I was used to playing sports, I had been playing basketball and soccer from a young age, but the challenge of competing at a higher level was exhilarating. Since that first year of volleyball I have grown and developed as a player and as a person. I love to win, as most athletes do, but nothing can compare to winning with a group of girls who support one another. Sportsmanship and support for my teammates is extremely important to me. I am a strong leader on and off the court and I would love to be able to take my leadership abilities and put them to good use at the next level.
Academics are a priority for me. As a freshman I realized that juggling three high school sports, a club volleyball season, academically challenging courses, and my 4.0 GPA would be no easy feat. Despite this, I have risen to the challenge and maintained my 4.0 GPA through my freshman and sophomore years and I intend to continue that trend. My goal is to pursue a medical career as a pediatric oncology nurse. At a young age I witnessed my brother’s leukemia treatments and the impact his nurses had on my family. They made a lasting impression and inspired me - I want to give to another family as they gave to me and mine. I am excited for the future and can’t wait to see where my volleyball and academic future takes me.
