Hi! My name is Kate Smith and I am a class of 2023 Outside Hitter. I have been playing competitive club volleyball for over 6 years now and I would love to continue my volleyball career at a 4-year college. I am a very positive and upbeat team player who loves a challenge and is not phased by "big game" scenarios. I have been very blessed to be on a great High School team at Desert Christian Academy (Bermuda Dunes, CA) and a part of a great club program at Desert Sports Volleyball Club (Palm Desert, CA). I am a versatile outside hitter and primary passer with an early proven ability to adjust for the ball and dig for anything on the court. I am a starter on my club and high school teams and I play all the way around. 

Besides volleyball, I regularly serve at my home church (The Garden Fellowship, Bermuda Dunes) and was a part of the Awana program for 5 years.  In my current high school youth group, I take part in student leadership and lead others in the musical aspects of our services. Next to my love for volleyball, I also love playing guitar and writing music. At home, my family is very important to me. I am the second oldest of five children and have been blessed with wonderful, loving, and supportive parents. 

Academically, I am as tenacious in my studies as I am out on the court, not happy with anything short of a solid 'A'.  I am also very involved in leadership through my school's student government, where I hold an officer position. In that role, I help plan fundraisers and various events to serve the rest of the student body.

Aside from my athletic ability, I think my two greatest assets on the court are my ability to push through challenges and intense situations with focus and determination and my ability to not become discouraged.  I look forward to the possibility of continuing to grow in and play the sport I love most.
