Going to college, for me, had always been considered a given. I have always worked hard on my academics and participated in various extracurricular activities with college as the goal. I started volleyball my freshman year of high school on the JV team because I was interested in the sport. Being a newcomer to the game, I had a lot to learn, but in a short period of time I have honed my skills significantly. This past year I played on my school's varsity team as a starter. Even while playing a high school sport, which practices 10-12 hours per week, I am still able to maintain straight A's and a 4.0 GPA.
I also joined my first club team this year with Beach Vibes Volleyball Club. I was able to improve my skills considerably in just the half season of club that I played this year (it was cut short due to COVID-19). I have learned a lot from volleyball, including the value of team work and leadership skills. Now that volleyball has become a part of my life, the idea of being able to attend a university while continuing to play in a sport I am passionate about has me very excited. I hope in a few years I can move on to a good college program and pursue an education while also playing competitive volleyball.
